Signing up for the Midas Breeding Program seemed like my only option for a fresh start. All I have to do is travel to Omega IV and become an incubator for one of the Veskhiri, a species indigenous to the primordial planet. The males are tall, clawed, and packed with muscle. One of them takes a particular disliking to me. Jarkoth. He's a big jerk and seems set on making me feel as unwelcome as possible. So... why do I feel such a strange attraction to him?

When the human females arrive at our settlement, I am against mating with one of them. The other males are eager to get to know the soft-skinned humans, but I will not participate. When my tribe leader foists a human female with wild red fur onto me, I'm forced to share my dwelling with her. She is weak and fragile like the rest of her species, and I want no part in getting to know her. But... I feel strangely protective of this little female. And my instincts are roaring that she is mine.
